The first step in making my tombstones was to cut the foam into a stone shape using a utility knife. The knife didn't go all the way through, but it scored it enough I could break off the unwanted pieces. Above all imperfection is key to Halloween props looking authentic. That's what I love about making them!

Glue garden stakes or small wooden shims to the back, so they stand up on the ground. Spray paint the entire gravestone black, then add dark gray accents/highlights. Outline the lettering and dates with a small paintbrush in white. Add rock piles or dirt mounds for that "fresh grave" look. Have fun making your Halloween graveyard fencing.

A good portion of the money spent was on the graveyard fencing which was $35 for a 5-6 foot section and we got two ($70).
